Fans Try to Save “The 4400″
Last time I checked, the idea of sending a bunch of stuff to the producers of a show was a hack bit that the fans of “Jericho” did when the network canceled that dogshit show last year. Now, fans of “The 4400″ are following suit by having bags and bags of sunflower seeds sent to USA Networks in hopes of saving the sci-fi show.
I was on the 4400 bandwagon bigtime early. I converted other people into 4400 fans after I watched the first two seasons in about 3 days. I was totally amazed by the whole show. I hung onto every word from one episode to the next. Then it all went to shit.
I had to stop watching the show. The actors felt the additional pressure of a larger fanbase and couldn’t help themselves from blatant overacting. The writing lost its edge as the show devolved into formulaic garbage. Peter Coyote left the show and it seemed to have all gone South thereafter.
Don’t bother trying to save this sinking ship. It is over. Nobody cares about Jordan Collier and his disciples. I couldn’t even make it through this most recent season. Jen and I made a conscious decision to just let it go. Please, people. Let it go. Look at it objectively. It isn’t good anymore.
NFL Network Should Be Scared
When Congress sends you a letter threatening your exemption from anti-trust laws, you should probably be scared.
Moon Bloodgood From Journeyman Pics
I wrote about Journeyman the other day, and I would be lying if I didn’t tell you all that another reason I love the show so much is the one chick who travels in time with Dan. Her name is Moon Bloodgood, and despite having a stupid name, she is completely gorgeous. I think I almost officially have a fake crush on her.
Sopranos Finale
Umm, I don’t mean to be “that guy,” but I kind of wanted a more definitive ending to this show. I understand the power of just saying “life goes on,” and not playing into the whole American philosophy that everything needs to be wrapped up in a pretty box, but I find it somewhat manipulative that there was a large build-up of events and situations with very little payoff.
So, all I can guess is that this story will continue at some point. This isn’t a real end. Maybe a movie or something down the road. With our luck, it will probably end up like Godfather 3.
NBC Cancels Studio 60
Thank goodness that NBC made a viewing choice for me for next season. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip was kinda entertaining at best. In the end it was preachy and the dialogue was impossibly perfect to the point of unbelievability.
Although, it doesn’t look like the replacements are all that compelling. A Heroes spinoff called origins and a remake of the Bionic Woman starring Michelle Ryan.
The Black Donnelly’s Canceled
I am starting to feel pretty good about my prognostication abilities after I gave up on this show after two episodes. NBC promptly dumped the rest of the series. I feel like this is restitution for being fooled with Crash in 2004. That was about the worst movie in hindsight. It was good at first, and then it started to hit you that it was preachy, too easily fit together and had Ryan Phillippe.
Anyway, I am happy to see The Black Donnelly’s go bye bye.
Also, can anyone else think of a movie that was worse than Crash in hindsight? Crash was a wacky movie because it seemed good for a minute or two, and then once you actually think about it, it becomes the Patch Adams of racism.
NBC Please Kill Studio 60
I came across this posting couldn’t really agree more. Apparently, NBC has renewed 30 Rock, but they are thinking hard about what to do with Studio 60. I watch the show. I love the “behind-the-scenes” feel of it, but it is so damn self-important and preachy that I don’t really want to watch any more. But I probably won’t stop if you keep putting it on the air. But I won’t completely like it. Please help me to stop watching a show that I don’t really like that much anyway. But I do, kind of. I am sure it is super expensive with a cast like that, and I can tell you with full confidence that even though I can’t stop watching it, I will never buy the DVD set. And you will probably need that portion of the business to make money on this project.
So, you better just cancel the show.
Carol Burnett Sues “The Family Guy”
Yep. I think that about covers it. Parody is a great thing.
OJ Simpson Special Cancelled
I wonder who all the outraged people are. I haven’t met them. I couldn’t care less and apparently neither could any of the people I know. So who are these that make up the outraged public?
Battlestar Galactica Going to NBC?
It is being rumored and intimated that Battlestar Galactica is going to be a “mid-season replacement” show for NBC. While I am less than thrilled with the plot twist that occurred at the end of last season where the humans have colonized, the show has earned enough leeway to keep me interested.
But, will it be able to keep its edge if it moves to a more mainstream station, or will NBC force producers to water down some of the harsher, more controversial elements of the show?
