30% Borders Rewards

Means that you are still probably about 10% away from getting the same price on CD’s and DVD’s that you would pay at Best Buy or Circuit City.  As a result, I am putting the Borders “Savings” emails in the spam folder on my email account.  Don’t call me until you accept reality and lower your prices.

Baby in the Oven

Opie and Anthony decided to make weird phrases number one on Google, so I thought I would see if I could just contribute my little bit to the campaign. The last time I heard, it was going well.

Rapists Think Murderers Are Bad

When Ticketmaster realizes that their monopoly of fan-rape was being subverted by technology being used by people who wanted to murder fans with ticket prices even worse, they cry foul. Ticketmaster should be obsolete at this point in the technological age, but for some reason their assault on ticket buyers everywhere continues. Convenience charge my ass.

Overplaying Your Hand

Dave Warwak said he wouldn’t return to the classroom unless Fox River Grove Middle School served only lunches free of animal products, but with meat still on the menu, school officials on Monday fired the art teacher.

Kevin Smith Owns Detractor at Q&A at Comic Con

September 2, 2007 · Filed Under Blog · Comment

Kevin Smith is certainly one guy who has his detractors. A lot of people do not like his movies. I am not one of those people. I find it hilarious that he uses characters over and over. I own everything he has ever done, as well as his books and interview DVD’s. I feel like this clip of Smith defending himself against a detractor is proof of why I am right to like Kevin Smith. He is a very smart and witty guy, and he proves this by using some of the most immature comebacks in the history of comebacks from the stage at comic-con. Check it out at Break.com and be prepared to giggle like a second grader.

Britney Spears is a Good Mom

Check out this picture of Britney dangling a cigarette right next to her child’s face. You can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country . . . you know the rest.

Ready to Write Again

Not that any of you are concerned with my fake writing career (IE blog,) but I am feeling a bit refreshed after having basically taken the month of August off. The NFL season is starting up. I have watched a lot of movies. I am firmly planted in my new career. I feel like I am ready to write stuff again.

My Neighborhood is Cool

I stop for coffee almost every morning at Arabica in University Heights. Every morning since I have gone there, I have never seen any kind of backup in the line, but this morning there were about 10 people waiting. It seems that someone had scheduled employees wrong, or one employee had failed to show up for work.

Instead of getting annoyed with the long line and complaining, people just waited patiently. When it was my turn, I glanced at the tip jar and it was more loaded than any other time I have ever been to the store. I got a tiny bit of pride as I left my customary tip in the overflowing jar.

A Level of Hell is Reserved for These People

June 18, 2007 · Filed Under Blog · Comment

If you want to know what kind of pure animals live on this planet with the rest of us, you need only read this article on CNN.com about a pedophile ring that was recently broken up.

The chat room, which was called “Kids the Light of Our Lives,” featured images, including live videos, of children — some only months old — being subjected to horrific sexual abuse, said Jim Gamble, chief executive of Britain’s Child Exploitation and Online Protection Center.

“You could go and if you were in the club, arrange a time and a place when online you could view a child being raped and brutalized in real time,” he said.

There is no punishment too harsh for these “people.” I know I am not jumping out on a limb here or anything, but occasionally even the most obvious facts need to be spoken.
