Chris Benoit - Murder Suicide Suspected

June 26, 2007 · Filed Under Sports · 1 Comment

Chris Benoit, his wife and 7 year-old son were found murdered on Monday. Apparently, Benoit missed a pay-per-view over the weekend. Benoit was 40 and I am sure some really horrendous details are coming soon. One of the reports that I read stated that Benoit might have killed his family over the weekend and didn’t kill himself until sometime later. I can only imagine what would run through your mind leading up to killing your family. Wow.

Jessie Davis is Ohio’s Laci Peterson

I find it unbelievably interesting how involved people are willing to get with news stories. Anyway, for those of you who haven’t been following the “big news,” there was a pregnant girl who mixed herself up with a bad guy and that bad guy, Bobby Cutts, allegedly murdered her.

Now they have picked up a friend of Cutts who is pictured below.

First of all, without reading anything, someone tell me whether that is a man or a woman. I think Martin Lawrence should call this guy to see if he is available for the next movie where they dress up as women.

A Level of Hell is Reserved for These People

June 18, 2007 · Filed Under Blog · Comment

If you want to know what kind of pure animals live on this planet with the rest of us, you need only read this article on CNN.com about a pedophile ring that was recently broken up.

The chat room, which was called “Kids the Light of Our Lives,” featured images, including live videos, of children — some only months old — being subjected to horrific sexual abuse, said Jim Gamble, chief executive of Britain’s Child Exploitation and Online Protection Center.

“You could go and if you were in the club, arrange a time and a place when online you could view a child being raped and brutalized in real time,” he said.

There is no punishment too harsh for these “people.” I know I am not jumping out on a limb here or anything, but occasionally even the most obvious facts need to be spoken.

NPR Podcast Featuring Ben Gibbard Acoustic Show

June 18, 2007 · Filed Under Music · Comment

Hey kids, you really should log onto iTunes and download this podcast of NPR’s show “All Things Considered” featuring a solo acoustic show of Ben Gibbard at the 9:30 club in Washington DC. I am betting that the audio won’t be available forever as a podcast out of their system. If you ever fall out of love with Death Cab for Cutie, I am betting that listening to this stripped down acoustic version of their songs (as well as some Postal Service and some covers) will definitely put you back on the Ben Gibbard bandwagon.

Gibbard even breaks out the piano for “Passenger Seat.”

Gary Baxter Running 8 Months After Tearing TWO PATELLAR TENDONS

Baxter has professed to get ready to play this season. Whether he makes it or not, you have to respect the attitude.

“I might be full-go, I might be part-time, I might not go,” he said. “But I’m going to show people that I’m dedicated to this cause. For those that believed in me, thank you. And those that didn’t, God bless you. This is the biggest challenge of my life, and so far, I’m conquering it.”

Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova - The Swell Season

This is my new favorite album. I haven’t talked about music in a while, but everyone should listen to this album. If you like Iron and Wine, David Gray, and Damien Rice, you will absolutely fall in love with this music. There is acoustic guitar and piano as the baseline and then there are strings and other additions to fill out the sound. At the heart of it is a man and woman harmonizing beautifully to reflective songs. The song “Falling Slowly” gives me chills, so if you want to start somewhere, I would start there.

The album is also available at iTunes and at my favorite site, eMusic.

Sowers Optioned to Buffalo

Jeremy Sowers was a superstar rookie pitcher for the Indians last year, but hasn’t been able to find much success this season. On Sunday he was optioned to Buffalo. Here’s hoping he can regain the form he established last season.

Sopranos Finale

Umm, I don’t mean to be “that guy,” but I kind of wanted a more definitive ending to this show. I understand the power of just saying “life goes on,” and not playing into the whole American philosophy that everything needs to be wrapped up in a pretty box, but I find it somewhat manipulative that there was a large build-up of events and situations with very little payoff.

So, all I can guess is that this story will continue at some point. This isn’t a real end. Maybe a movie or something down the road. With our luck, it will probably end up like Godfather 3.

Bill Simmons Kills Roger Brown

Pitiful Cleveland sports “journalist” takes on Bill Simmons and his coverage of LeBron James. Simmons defends himself admirably. Roger Brown is looking for his dignity because it has been unceremoniously ripped from his body.
