Keith Foulke Retires Before Pitching for Tribe
According to WTAM and Cleveland.com Keith Foulke will announce his retirement today due to injuries to his shoulder and knee. Foulke was supposed to be the Indians’ closer this season, so the Indians now go into spring training with Joe Borowski and newly signed reliever Cliff Politte.
I am sure that this isn’t exactly what Mark Shapiro had in mind when he signed Foulke in the off-season. While this isn’t nearly as desperate a situation as when LeCharles Bentley drew lame on the first day of training camp for the Browns this year, it is kind of eerie how this kind of thing happens to Cleveland teams all of the time.
ESPN Power Rankings: Cavs Make a Move
Despite the attitude that the sky is falling (myself included,) the Cavs did tear off three quality home wins against the Heat, Clippers and Lakers in the last week. In doing so, they were able to move seven spots from number 15 all the way up to number 8.
The Suns are still number 2 in the poll, but watch them fall right out of the top ten if they don’t get Nash healthy over the all-star break this week. That team is a shell of itself when Nash is off the court.
Also, the battle for Greg Oden is hot and heavy at the bottom with the Celtics slightly nudging out the Grizz.

Open Competition for Browns QB in 2007
The Cleveland Browns have replaced the entire offensive staff for the Browns for next season. Recently hired QB coach Rip Scherer tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer that there will be an open competition between Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson.
The other good news?
Scherer says the competition will be open between the players on the roster, but also wouldn’t rule out the possibility that the Browns could add someone to the roster in the QB position during the draft. I don’t want the Browns to take anyone with their first pick, but if they could find someone interesting at the end of day one or on day two of the draft, I wouldn’t be opposed.
Mark Cuban vs Dwyane Wade
Dwyane Wade had some critical comments about Dirk Nowitzki’s leadership. Mark Cuban decided to respond with this post on his blog. I am guessing that there will be a fine coming, but it doesn’t matter. I got a huge laugh out of the post. It is a little bit sloppy and a little bit “from the hip,” but there is one huge bomb in there that really makes me laugh.
“I love watching you shoot free throws.”
Cuban basically tells him that without the referees favoring him, he is nothing but a punk. I love it.
Short Movie Review: Gridiron Gang
Assuming your expectations are in check with the fact that this movie is about kids in jail playing football with The Rock and XZibit as their coaches, you will enjoy Gridiron Gang. If you are expecting something other than a football movie with some generous helpings of cheese, you will be disappointed. On the whole, I would say that Gridiron Gang is better than Friday Night Lights, not as good as The Program and lacks the trainwreck re-watchability factor of Varsity Blues.
After seeing it, I think I have decided to pass on We Are Marshall and Invincible altogether.
Buying Things Used vs New
While this list of things you shouldn’t buy used is pretty obvious, the list of things you shouldn’t buy new is a little more fun.
Haggard Rehabbed his Way to Heterosexuality
Sounds like a renewed attitude of repression and denial of self. I am sure he will be snorting coke and paying male hookers for favors in no time!

Superbowl Taco Dip Recipe
One of the highlights of yesterday (for me anyway) was the taco dip that I made by experimenting. The recipe was on the fly, but I remember most of it.
Brown some ground meat. You can use beef, chicken or turkey, but I happened to have 1 pound of ground buffalo meat.
Finely chop 1/2 of a green pepper. Put it in the frying pan.
Finely chop onion to taste and put that in frying pan. I chopped about a handful.
Cut up tomatoes and put in frying pan to taste. I used about 15 or 20 grape tomatoes.
Pour one cup of water into the frying pan with a taco seasoning packet from Ortega.
Cook until the mixture is not watery any more.
Pour mixture into a crock pot or sauce pot on the stove.
Cut 1.5 pounds of Velveeta into cubes. Put them in the mixture and stir occasionally.
During this process, I added additional seasonings. I added a bit of hot pepper, tabasco and some garlic, but at this point it is up to you.
What you end up with is a variation on the popular taco dip recipes, but with the vegetables that I suggested, it ends up tasting a little bit chunkier, while looking a little more appetizing with the additional colors from the vegetables.
Who would have thunk that you would get recipes here on FilteringCraig.com?
