The only thing worse than a fire alarm at 8:15 AM is a fire alarm at 8:15 AM when it is 50 degrees, windy and raining. At least I had the presence of mind to grab my coat, umbrella, my large cup of Arabica coffee, and my iPod Nano.

One of the readers had this TV show idea and sent it in to Bill.

Please tell me if you can think of a better concept for an MTV show than “Cribs: Five Years Later.” For example, in a few years they could have the two surviving members of rap group Pretty Ricky watch their episode, with SuChin Pak interjecting with questions. “So, that’s a nice Porsche, you still have that? Whatever happened to that house?”

Brilliant. I would watch this show every week. You know when they mix the old picture of a car on “Pimp My Ride” and flash to the new picture of the pimped car? Do that, only in reverse. Show some customized felt pool table and have it morph into a card table from Wal-Mart with that plastic and padding on it that comes with 4 “chairs” and costs $17.99 on sale.

John Mayer

I have never had any desire to like John Mayer. There are a number of reasons for that, but I present exhibit A “You’re Body is a Wonderland.”

But, after hearing him on the radio with his keen sense of who he is and how the world might see him, he climbed partially out of the douche hole that I had him suffocating in.

And now after hearing his new song “Waiting on the World to Change” (at least until it gets over-played) I have to give credit where it is due.

That song is just a well-written pop-song with great lyrics and sensibilities.

Ohio State Wins, Arson Ensues

“There were about 40 fires reported, with couches and mattresses set ablaze, in student neighborhoods Saturday night, said Columbus police Sgt. David Howson, whose department arrested about 17 people, five of them on arson charges. A trash bin also was set on fire, burning two nearby cars, he said.”

Would someone please tell the students at The Ohio State University that they live in Columbus and NOT in Detroit?

1. What’s the best thing you’ve watched on HDTV this week?

HD Xbox 360 of course. Video games in High Def rival TV in high def.

2. What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

Going to the Browns game on Sunday vs. the New Orleans Saints! (Missing brunch, unfortunately.)

3. How much does gas cost in your neck of the woods right now?

I think around 2.49 which I paid earlier this week.

4. If you had to join a branch of the Armed Forces, which would it be and why?

Air force baby. I don’t have any passion for planes really, but I think it would be the most fun.
