Mel Gibson – Another Viewpoint

I think Mel Gibson is a bigot based on his comments, but not everyone thinks so. This author gives a somewhat sympathetic viewpoint on Gibson. I was totally dismissing it as I was reading it, but this paragraph was interesting.

We all know the stories of Mel’s father’s anti-Semitism. Clearly the son grew up with this along with all the anger that accompanies such beliefs. Such upbringing stays with us the rest of our lives. We cannot purge ourselves of it but we can tame it, subdue it, and hope that it remains dead and buried and beyond recall.

I am not willing to let him off the hook for his statements, but recalling how sad his father’s interview was, I can understand it a tiny bit. Hopefully these are just deep seeded demons that Mel Gibson does his best to repress. I kind of doubt it, but let’s hope.
