646 Pound Catfish?

I know there have been a lot of fish stories here lately, but tell me this doesn’t look like a photoshop.

Cell Phone Stories from the Washington Post

I think we need to do more social monitoring (ie ostracizing) to get this problem under control. If everyone who uses cell phones appropriately told everyone who doesn’t that they looked like an ass, we would have far fewer problems with this.

20,000 Carp Die of Herpes in Chautauqua Lake

In the lovely area where my parents have their lake house, dead fish are rising to the surface everywhere. Apparently, these carp are dying from some form of Koi-Herpes (insert Katie Holmes joke here) and now the region is faced with trying to clean up all the dead fish.

I am heading there this weekend, and I will give you a full report on the sights, and unfortunately, the smells of this normally beautiful place.

Ipod’s to Get Bookmarking Support

Ipod is consolidating its lines so that all Ipod’s will be photos. Included in this, the new Ipod’s will have support for bookmarking in podcasts. I am hoping that this means when I am listening to a radio show, I can mark my spot, go listen to something else for a while and then jump right back into the radio show where I left off. It seems like it should be something that is already built in, but as far as I can tell, it isn’t.

The Ocean is filled with lots of living things that feel more natural in a swimming situation than humans. Some of those living things are sharks. Sharks occasionally attack swimmers, surfers and other people in the water. Sharks are natural predators.

Mark Cuban on DVD Copy Protection

Company A makes protection software which is sells for millions. Company B easily beats Company A’s code with their product. Company A sues Company B for breaking their code illegally.

Mark Cuban says -

I could see if the stuff worked and it kept the bad guys from doing bad things. Then it would have to be a price consumers paid. Publishers have a right to protect their content. But, it obviously doesn’t work. If it did, there would be nothing to sue anyone over. Instead they would be taking out ads saying how they kicked all the bad guys’ asses. But they aren’t. They are suing companies and admitting their software sucks.

So hows bout we cut consumers a break and get this shit away from our DVDs.”

All of this goes to a charitable cause in San Francisco, so I guess it doesn’t really matter that it was that expensive. I am left wondering what the going rate is to have lunch with other famous people?

Maybe Michael Jackson can cover some of his legal bills with this strategy. Didn’t Gary Coleman do this as well?

Don’t Mess with Opie and Anthony

If, by chance you happen to rip on Opie and Anthony in a letter to a reporter, and that reporter happens to print your name, you can expect that O and A are going to respond and possibly even make fun of you. So, if you are going to do something like that, please take a couple steps to minimize the risk.

First and foremost, please register the domain name of your name before some motivated Opie and Anthony fan gets ahold of it.

Adobe Class

I am in class this week. It is amazing how much easier all this stuff is to use once you have a base of skills. This makes those instructional videos on Lynda.com and other places seem like a much more useful way to learn the basics on a bunch of stuff rather than just losing your mind guessing your way through the beginning stages of everything.
