Christian Slater Trying To Stay Famous (Arrested for Sexual Harassment)

Christian Slater, who is battling cultural irrelevancy, is doing all he can to avoid slipping out of the spotlight for good. Slater, 35, has taken to (allegedly) grabbing women’s asses on the streets of NYC. The former teen heart-throb has been battling irrelevancy ever since he got too old to play a teenager, and realized that the demands of real acting were beyond him. Next on the agenda for Slater is a trip to rehab, a surprise guest appearance as the San Diego Chicken at this year’s Wrestlemania, and a season of The Surreal Life with cast-mates including William Hung, the original members of Destiny’s Child, the grandson of the old lady who asked “Where’s the beef?” and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Pedro the Lion: Christian Sellout?

Don’t ever say that there isn’t controversy in the Christian music scene. Pedro the Lion’s David Bazan defends himself from some mudslinger on the messageboards.

Coldplay - Speed of Sound Video

Although Coldplay blew up beyond belief with their last album, it remains to be seen if they can keep the momentum going with their next album, X&Y. This video is now available at MTV, and it is growing on me, but I am not sure if it is nearly as mind-blowing as their last album. Their last album was such a step up from their first album, Parachutes, but this seems like a pretty safe continuation of where they left off with A Rush of Blood to the Head.

86 Year Old Woman Arrested

After a pizza shop wouldn’t deliver to her house and its owner called her a “crazy old coot” she called 911 twenty times in little more than a half hour. The cops showed up to arrest her and she scratched, kicked and bit him, so she was charged with resisting a public officer and two counts of misusing the emergency telephone system.

Imagine if the owner of the pizza shop had used a different C-word. Her head might have exploded.

Billy Corgan Smashes Ex-Zwan Bandmates, David Pajo

EW: Which of your two bands is more likely to reunite?
CORGAN: Pumpkins. You’ll never see Zwan. I’ll never go anywhere near those people. Ever. I mean, I detest them. You can put that in capital letters. Bad people. James and D’Arcy are good people. They might be misguided people, but they’re good people.

I am a huge Billy Corgan fan, but this doesn’t exude the amount of class that an artist should have even if he did have a bad experience. This just comes off as cocky and petty, while taking away from the amounts of respect that the music community has for Corgan.

Abandoning the Left

This author can no longer deal with the party that the left has become.

This is the age of extremism. There has been mass departure from the right, with people clamoring for the center and the party they knew before Evangelicals took over. It is nice to see that some on the left are recognizing how far out their party has also gotten.

I know it is wishful thinking, but what are the chances that this could pave the way for some folks to meet in the middle?

Spice Girls to Return

Thank goodness that the Spice Girls are getting back together because Spice World needs a sequel. Oh wait. No it doesn’t. Thankfully this is just a one-off gig. Maybe then they will really finish disappearing.
