Does Al Barger know about the 10 inches of snow your back was bitching about last night? Or the 30 degree temperatures that ruined my hot dog experience on Saturday? I don’t know this Al Barger, but if he’s giving credit to Bush for fixing ANYTHING related to the environment, Global Warming has clearly destroyed any functioning brain cells he may have had in the past.
You’re right. Mr. Barger has no clue.
Craig,
Global warming is something I have researched because I dont believe it to be the major problem that it is portrayed to be, or at the very least, much less understood than some scientists would have you think.
The guy, Barger, does sound clueless. One of the theories of global warming is that there will be more extremes and actually that temperatures could get colder due to a slowing of the jet stream. I have not seen “Day After Tomorrow” but I believe that was the premise it was partly based on. Either way, any person that uses today’s temperature on any day, anywhere, to advocate or reject global warming is an idiot.
The problem I have with Global Warming is two-fold. For some reason, and I wont claim “liberal media” just yet, when a scientist releases a study that suggests humans are causing GW it is usually regarded as fact or at least an interesting piece. Yet a scientist, and they are known as the Cooler Heads Coalition(CHC) and some are from MIT, comes out against humans and greenhouse gases being responsible for the current warming trend, he is either viewed as a supporter of big oil or auto manufacturers. It just bugs me because both scientific theories, and not just the doomsday ones should examined.
Second, considering the small amount of data(100+ years) of actual temperature data, plus the fact that this planet has had extremely large temperature variations before, the burden of proof should be heavily on the poeple claiming that humans are accelarting GW, not the other way around. Saying that 6 of the hottest years in the last 100 have been since 1990 really doesnt mean shit to me. What the hell is 1900-2005 when you are talking about the life of the Earth. So many variables could cause a swing in such a small time window.
Once again, a hell of alot more people are and will receive funding to try and prove that there is global warming and that my SUV is causing it, then proving it is just part of the natural Earth cycle.

Chris, I don’t disagree with you. All I know is that Global Warming is a possibility and that using the temperature on a given day to make a point about politics and global warming is silly, as you have also pointed out.
