Maybe I am Deluded

Is anyone else tired of online petitions and things that are basically meaningless? People seem to think that these petitions are going to do something, but meanwhile they consolidate zero power bloggers and people on the web into a bigger voice with no power. I understand the idea and the feelings, but really is there a point? Or is it just self-importance over your website and the traffic numbers that you may accumulate?

I don’t have any idea what people should do instead, but I feel like this is a waste of time.

    The only online petition that I can side with is the one to get Ashlee Simpson thrown out of the mainstream media.

    Oh, and the one I started to get those guys to finish your bathroom.

    Markos seems to have got himself on Air America over this thing, so it looks like it might be more than meaningless. I get your point, but when you’ve got a readership as big as the The Daily Kos, you’ve got some juice when you want to make a point. Why blog at all? What’s the distinction between a 300-word rant and a 300-word petition?
