The Pirate Bay is a BitTorrent tracking site in Sweden with 150,000 users a day. In the fall, it posted a torrent for Shrek 2. Dreamworks sent a cease-and-desist letter demanding the site remove it. One of the site’s pseudonymous owners, Anakata, replied: “As you may or may not be aware, Sweden is not a state in the United States of America. Sweden is a country in northern Europe [and] US law does not apply here. … It is the opinion of us and our lawyers that you are fu**ing morons.” Shrek 2 stayed up.

I want a punishment

and I want it now! How many faces has Dikembe Mutombo broken in his career with his deadly and sharp elbows? Now he has fractured the cheek-bone of LeBron James in the twilight of his overrated, finger-wagging career. How many times does one guy get to break people’s faces before he gets fined and punished. A-hole.

In BAD Company

You know, I really wanted to see this movie tonight and the website says that it opens today, but come to find out it is only in NY and LA and the rest of us poor bastards don’t get to see it until January 14th. Keep in mind that I am in Chicago right now so I feel like I have upgraded in terms of general prestige. Eff you NY and LA. We want to see this movie too.

(By the way, I am not quite sure why I want to see it so badly, but it might have something to do with “Solsbury Hill” playing in the movie’s trailer.)

Jerry Orbach

The man who makes Law and Order, (or at least one of them) died on tuesday. I am sure one of the 700 other versions of the show will pick up the slack, but we will miss Jerry Orbach. His little commentary on each of the cases was effing hilarious.

Is it Time?

Is it time (already) for me to start complaining about the way the game of baseball is structured and how much the big boys spend on players? This game needs a salary cap and fast. Glaus gets $45 million. Chris Benson gets $22.5. Jaret Wright signs a big deal? The Tribe couldn’t land one of the starters because they wouldn’t pay all that phat cash and now are faced with signing Kevin Millwood to a one year deal at near 7 million bones. Effing ridiculous.

Liquor stores hit the lottery today when this guy decided to be charitable.

Rubber Banned

Did you know that rubber bands could be used as, and to launch projectiles??!?!?!? Now they have been banned in this school. Soon, they will ban sporks and switch to finger foods in the lunch room.

Sony Falters on MP3 Player

“Consumers with stacks of CDs encoded in the popular MP3 format discovered Sony’s accompanying PC software would translate existing files into its own proprietary ATRAC compression format, leaving users with two copies of every song on their PC hard drive.”

Next time just give it support for MP3. It is a standard. Deal with it.
