STORY OF THE YEAR
This is the Cleveland Sports Story of the Year BY FAR!!! Make sure you read all the way to the end.
Melvins Tribute
I am pretty psyched about this all-star lineup to tribute to the Melvins. I really hope someone covers “Goggles” which is one of the slowest, most brooding, hammer-like tracks in my collection.
Although it is taking a little longer than expected Fractured Transmitter Records is still planning on releasing “We Reach: The Music Of The Melvins” as soon as humanly possible. It will most likely be the label’s 3rd or 4th release. Some of the bands confirmed to participate are: Meshuggah, Disengage, Strapping Young Lad, Dillinger Escape Plan and Absentee to name a few.

Figuring Out Ohio
Here is an analysis of Ohio in terms of the upcoming election. This was only slightly interesting to me as an Ohioan because I already either knew or suspected a lot of these things. Those who don’t live in Ohio, but are interested in one of the major swing states, might want to check this out.
They’re Watching You
I wasn’t using my civil liberties anyway…
Another Band
Blindside got all of their stuff stolen in Dallas including instruments, money, passports, computers and IPods. All of it gone. I am thinking maybe the boys from “Liar’s Academy” stole it because someone stole their stuff last week. Now Blindside will have to go rip off Avril Lavigne’s band or something. Then Avril can go rip off Hillary Duff’s band and Hillary Duff’s band can try and rip off the guys from Godsmack who will kill Hillary Duff’s band and then everyone wins.
Speaking of Chuck Klosterman…
Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs was a really fun book of essays and was well-written and entertaining. Read this review of that book and tell me this guy isn’t just teeming with his jealousy of the object of his aggression for having a book deal that he couldn’t get. This might be the most vitriolic review ever.
Chuck Klosterman Rules
Chuck Klosterman on the band Breaking Benjamin working with Billy Corgan. I’m also in no position to advise songwriters. Billy Corgan, on the other hand, is a different story. According to the press kit for Breaking Benjamin’s We Are Not Alone, Corgan co-wrote three songs with Benjamin frontman Ben Burnley, and advised him to “think outside the box.” Excellent. Maybe next time Corgan will tell Burnley to proactively create synergy and outsource his core competencies. It’s a win-win!
Liar’s Academy Effed
There can’t be much worse for an upstart band on the eve of its tour in support of an album.
