Betting On Iraq
I don’t like to consider myself a sucker, but frankly, I can’t figure out what the catch is here on this site. It is saying that you should by Iraqi Dinars (their currency) because it is probably at its lowest possible price and should go up assuming you believe they can recover sometime within your lifetime. So you buy 1,000,000 dinars for $1050 American dollars. If the price of the dinar goes up 40% compared to the dollar then your 1,000,000 Iraqi Dinars will now be worth $1750.
And I really do believe that it would work if you are willing to bet that Iraq can recover and their currency value will go up. This guy at CNN Money says it is pure gambling. Is he right?
Ok, folks. Poke holes in it please.
Republicans Enter Race?
No sooner did I feel like the Republicans weren’t even going to try in this election, they had Dick Cheney fire a shot directly to people like Andrew Sullivan. Cheney came out (pun intended) at a rally and said that he opposes the gay marriage constitutional amendment that the President supported.
Will it be enough to get the few republican voters who are gay? Will it be enough to sway some socially liberal Republicans who didn’t like the whole amendment thing? Is this all just way too late a reaction to something as hateful as that proposed amendment?
Regardless, I think it says one thing. The Republicans are finally strategizing.
Cake or Death
Over at Justin’s Leading Brand, I got to choose this week’s version of Cake or Death. I gave him two options. The one that he didn’t choose was a Deity Deathmatch between Jesus and Allah.
Oh well. If I ever get to choose again, that will certainly be my selection in Cake or Death.
Redesign
Although it was a slightly arduous process, in which I ultimately decided to skip out on CSS and all that high tech stuff in favor of tables, the redesign is complete and my site doesn’t hurt my eyes so much anymore. I know I still have a lot of stuff on here, but I think it should be a little less busy and a little easier to read. If you have specific problems seeing the site, please let me know and I will see what I can do to fix it.
National News?
I have been thinking this for a while now. What is national news and why do we end up with the stories we end up with? Should we even care about the ones that we are force-fed?
Feeling Victorious
Despite the fact that much of the time I feel like I can’t win no matter what I do, I think I have finally done something to stop the spammers on this site. I have a Charlie Brown complex and I feel like that bitch Lucy could pull the ball out at any time. What I did, was change the name of the comment script that spammers are always looking for. Change the standard name and they don’t have free reign. ROCK!
Disgusting on a Friday
An actual conversational excerpt….
Guy: “Yeah, I went over to my girlfriend’s last night, to rip out her bathroom…”
Me: (cutting him off) “OOOHHH, is that what you kids are calling it these days?”
I should probably sleep more.
Come on Ben…
Please don’t alienate your fans. You sing about girls and relationships and odd situations with a poetic voice. Everyone else is already talking about politics. I just want to hear the beautiful music. I understand you might want to speak your mind, but write it on a website or something. Don’t combine your message with the music. The music isn’t about that.
Barack in the House
This guy is not only Crunchy approved but is one of the wisest, best spoken politicians I have heard from in a long time, and I still consider myself a Republican. I am waiting for him to prove that opinion wrong, and I should have plenty of opportunity. Barack Obama has embraced the weblog. You can check it out here.
