Primary Season
Geeks vs. Non-Geeks
New York Times about non-geeks tech ignorance.
“…But as those same friends and family members are called upon again and again to save the computer incompetents from themselves, the geeks’ patience is growing thin. As it does, a new kind of digital divide is opening up between populations of computer users who must coexist in the same digital world.”
I think it’s funny that the social outcast geek party collectively pushes up their (our?) glasses as we scoff as you people click on viruses. What an image.
Clarett Eligible for Draft
A ruling in New York has said that the NFL cannot keep Maurice Clarett from draft eligibility based on age. I have to say, this decision was probably inevitable. You figure that Clarett is over the age of 18 and he is physically capable of working and doing the job required, so legally, how is it possible that the NFL should be able to keep him from earning a living in a viable market? Keeping Clarett out results in an anti-trust violation.
If Clarett isn’t good enough to play in the NFL, then he won’t be taken in the draft. We all know that won’t happen. I don’t see the NFL winning their appeal.
They should have made a back-room deal with Clarett allowing him (and only him) to enter the draft. By letting him carry his lawsuit forward, this will open the floodgates.
Reverse Survivor
It isn’t any big secret that I am one of the mystery contestants over at Mister Crunchy’s Reverse Survivor writing contest, but which contestant am I? I figure you people who visit here often enough will be able to figure it out without any problems. I won’t confirm or deny if you guess, but I would still be interested to see who you think I am. Go over there. Take a look and come back here with a guess if you would like.
MTV Changing their Tune
This is the last mention you will see here about the Janet Justin Super Out of Proportion Bowl. I was looking around and here there is a comparison of what MTV’s site looked like following the incident and then how they quickly put their tail between their legs as they figured out that they were going to receive some criticism.
Gahd, I love how balls-out MTV is. They are the voice of a generation that is known for its hard-hitting take-no-prisoners, give-no-apologies attitude. Either that or its unending Real World vs. Road Rules Challenge programming, which is predictable and definitely not challenging anyone or anything.
