Are You Ready…
for some FOOTBALL? I am headed to the Browns game at 9:30 this morning. The gates don’t open until 11 and kickoff isn’t until after 1:00 pm. Maybe I will remember enough of the game to post here tomorrow. Maybe not. Should be fun anyway. ROCK!

Nice game, Browns.
They played a game? Head… hurts… must sleep off…
I’m not sure if it qualifies as a “game” since it was so lopsided (and since the Cardinals were involved) but the Browns sure were scoring some points.
Also, I’ve decided I hate LeBron James. I realized this while watching the Celtics/Cavs game on Friday. Granted, I hate pretty much anyone who’s trying to defeat the mighty Boston Celtics, but I dislike Lebron for other reasons. If there was a single call against the Cavs or a non-call he thought he deserved that he didn’t complain about, I surely missed it. He never shut his hole the entire game.
And I’m in favor of complaining. Officiating in the NBA is so bad that you have to complain sometimes. If you don’t, Dick Bavetta and company will go right on fixing games and forget you exist. And before you know it, the other team has taken eighty-four free throws and you’ve taken six. If you’re going to get any calls, you need one guy on your team to be the Designated Bitch. It was always Antoine on the Celtics. They don’t really have anyone anymore now that he’s gone, and that scares me. Because a playoff series against the Nets is going to be very short if they’re getting all the calls.
But James has been in the league three weeks and he’s already whining for calls like he’s Jordan or Malone. He’s obviously got some game, and he’s working on making me eat every word I said about him being overrated, but he needs to realize he’s still a rookie. All the hype has inflated his ego to the point where, like Jordan, he thinks he can basically call his own fouls. That sort of thing pisses me off. Accomplish something before you start preening and strutting. And bitching.
Ok, I’m done. Go Pats!
I would agree for the most part although I missed most of that game on Friday. (Why doesn’t Tonie Battie play like an allstar against the cavs all the time?) I would say that for the most part he is a pretty mature guy and has a positive effect on the cavs. No doubt at 18 years old he still has some things to learn about how the league works. This is why I am glad we have Paul Silas instead of the rotating cast of coaches we have had since Mike Fratello got fired for winning.
Mike Fratello might be my favorite NBA coach of all time. Was there ever a more awkward looking man roaming the sidelines? Has there ever been a coach who looked more like he was about to vomit? Who had to work with Marv Albert? Who was given a goofy nickname (Czar of the Telestrator)? No. There is no coach more ripe for comedy than Mike Fratello.
Paul Silas seems like an aw shucks kinda guy, and I’m sure he doesn’t mind LeBron complaining. Someone has to, after all. But I think it’s not going to be long before someone like Ben Wallace or Karl Malone puts an elbow in young Mr. James mouth if he doesn’t learn to quiet down and pick his spots when it comes to bitching about calls.
Zydrunas and Friends were giving Tony the baseline jumper from 12-15 feet, and you don’t want to do that. That’s Tony’s shot. Admittedly, it’s his only shot, but he’ll hit it if you give it to him.
Well, the Cavs have an unlikely nemesis in Tonie Battie. He is just one of those guys who comes to play agains the Cavs.
Final thought on Lebron complaining is that he is by far the best candidate to complain. Ricky Davis is too much of a thug, Zydrunas does his fair share, Boozer is a Duke guy from Alaska so I don’t think it could be any more stacked against him, and Darius Miles is not NEARLY good enough to complain about anything. Like you said, complaining is a part of the game, but I could do with a lot less of it. That being said, if anyone on this team IS going to complain to refs it should probably be Lebron. We don’t have any veterans other than Zydrunas, and Lebron is already the leader of this team.
Oh, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him take an elbow from one of the griseled guys at some point this year. I would like to see if Lebron can fight anyway.
