Stephen Pearcy is a Bad Artist

July 25, 2005 · Filed Under Politics

This “artist” has put up a piece of art in a state-owned building. (click here to check it out.)

This is exactly what is wrong with some dissenters in this country. Even if they have some basis for their opinion, they back it up with their half-assed crappy displays (IE putting a rough sketch of the American flag in a badly drawn toilet with a pair of cowboy boots.) But this guy Pearcy has no execution abilities whatsoever. Really. Look at the picture.

I think Michael Moore is pretty disingenuous when he makes a “documentary” but there is no denying his abilities as a great story-teller and movie director. This guy Pearcy just has no abilities. If he is an artist, he is a really crappy one. (His other piece of “art” was an effigy of a dead US soldier with a sign that said “F*** Bush” underneath it.”) He plays to the lowest common denominator. It isn’t thought provoking. It doesn’t really do much more than contribute to the white noise of blind, angry, self-imposed mental retardation that blinds the extreme wings in this country.

And as long as we are talking about displays in public buildings, can we really escape the parallels with people in the south wanting the Ten Commandments displayed? Those idiots risk their jobs and reputations over their strange need for religious displays in the lobbies of buildings. Is that really so much different than this piece of crap in Sacramento?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that the Ten Commandments display is defensible due to the separation of church and state, but at the same time, if one argument against the display is its polarizing abilities, how is it that we can have officials choosing something so blatantly offensive (as well as stupid) to be displayed in a building in Sacramento?

I know we have specific rules against linking church and state, but it does seem rather strange to me that at the end of the day, we want to protect some idiot who puts the American flag in a toilet more than some religious people. How are the Ten Commandments more harmful than this rotting piece of dog shit?

“Round and Round” was a sweet song! I don’t think Stephen Pearcy is a bad artist at all. Name 1 time you went to a strip club and didn’t hear that song?

I’m not on board with Bush in nearly any way, but this drives the point home as to why America is so backwards. Displaying this trite garbage is like putting 100 japanese fighting fish in your bathtub. There is no way any good can come of it, but it will be hilarious to watch.

This is truly the beauty of America. Any idiotic nincompoop with half an idea can don his wizard cape and hat, sally forth into the public square, and bellow “I’M AN IDIOT! WHEEEEEEE! LOOKEE HEEAH! SNIGGLEDY PIGGLEDY POO!” and people like us will debate the merits of said public idiocy. I love it here.

The 10 Commandments are as offensive to me - no, MORE offinsive to me than this “art”. By far. The Commandment suck. They are commandments. Someone is imposing their beliefs on me. I am being repressed.

Can you find an objective reason why they are more offensive than this piece of shit toilet piece?

If the Commandments were merely an art piece that would be taken down when the exhibit ends, I don’t think they’re any more offensive than Mr. Pearcy’s work.

If they were called the “ten suggestions” or the “ten ideas”, they wouldn’t be so bad. Commandment gets me. I don’t like being commanded, and although they are pretty much all good ideas, making someone see them whether or not they are Christian doesn’t seem like a good idea. They want the commandments displayed PERMANENTLY in front of courthouses, schools, et cetera. That bothers me. I don’t like other people’s beliefs pressed on me for any reason. this douchebag’s beliefs and political standing are made crystal clear for us, but they are part of an art exhibit. a temporary art exhibit.

The final point here is both sides of this (shitty art & 10 commandments) are crap.
