I’d Rather have a Dog

June 15, 2004 · Filed Under Blog

BUT, I now have a cat. Someone found these strays and I have taken a female tabby. I don’t have a name for this kitten just yet. Help me out. Suggest a name. I figure it could get scary with the whole social stigma associated with cats, but as long as I keep it to a single cat and don’t end up with, say… SEVEN, it will all be ok.

Tommy. I know it’s a female cat, but Tommy The Cat is too good to pass up.

According to the book of “Cool Names,” (which my pregnant co-worker was reading over lunch), this season’s “Bad Girl” names include: Lola, Pixie, and Ruby.

The “Good Girl” name list includes: Angel, Angelica, and Gracie.

The “Cool” name list includes: Alexis, Emma, and Anna.

And the “Uncool” name list features Heather.

I am now officially uncool, so don’t name your cat after me.

I know it’s a bit girly, but I think you should name her Pixie. A reference to music is very appropriate for you. It also indicates that she may be a bit mischievous and impish. Just look at that picture - it’s perfect. And you could call her Sticks (or Styx) for short!

That’s not fair. I came up with Pixie yesterday - long before this “Bad Girl” list of names surfaced. So, Pixie’s a rebel too. It’s perfect.

“Pixie” makes me think of Tinkerbell. And I’m not sure, exactly, but I don’t think I want to think of Tinkerbell whenever I hear Craig’s cat’s name. There’s just something a bit off about that…

Battiger makes me think of this kid Craig and I went to high school with, I have clicked on Craigs page 3 times today and broken into laughter when I looked at that cute innocent kitten and thought it’s name to be Battiger. I have to say comedic and nostaligic value points towards Battiger

I will vouch for the fact that Jen came up with Pixie. Now I am thinking about throwing some support for a friend by naming it Heather.

    Locklear
    Graham
    The movie
    Donahue

I am sure Heathyrre would also agree. :-)

i’d go with killer, maul, or some other fear-inspiring name…

Heather is an excellent name. I agree. However, I wouldn’t want to burden your cat with such greatness to live up to. (Ha! I am egotistical. My my.)

I will second the Battiger, even though I have no idea what it’s about. I am easily led.

Yay for the kitty! I don’t know if it’s a male cats-only thing, but don’t overfeed the poor thing dry food. It’ll cause bad things in the bladder/kidneys. I don’t want what happened to my beautiful black cat (in Salem, MA, natch. I am egotistical, a follower, and a stereotype! Love me!) to happen to you.

Just call him meow or something cat related, I dont know, I lack imagination.
How about Garfield in honor of the horrible movie thats coming up.

Battiger…I think that my heart just stopped. You HAVE to name him that, just so when people ask why, you can tell them the story. If you decide to go to our 10 year reunion, you can tell everybody that you named your cat Battiger and people will laugh. Well…everybody except for Battiger…and maybe Boris.

    Memory lane excerpt over…

    Satan. Satan the cat.

Or Toonsis. Looks like a Toonsis to me.
